EWG’s recommendation BHA is an ingredient of concern. EWG suggests limiting consumption of foods with this ingredient. The National Toxicology Program in 1991 classified BHA as “reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen.” It has been listed as a known carcinogen under California’s Proposition 65 since 1990.
