Beauty Made Better: EWG’s Fight for Safe Cosmetics
Personal care products you use on your skin and hair are a major source of daily chemical exposure, and many may contain ingredients like phthalates, which have been linked to hormone disruption, skin irritation and even higher risks of cancer.
Product use is rising: On average, women now use 13 products a day with 114 unique ingredients, and men use 11, up from six in 2004. About 10% of adults use more than 25 products daily. So most people are exposed to at least two ingredients linked to cancer and two tied to reproductive or developmental harm.
EWG scientists provide science-backed ratings, expert guidance, and tools like EWG’s Skin Deep® database, Healthy Living app and the EWG Verified® mark help identify safer options.
Because when it comes to your health, transparency isn’t optional – it’s essential.
