Franklin Egan

Franklin Egan is a pesticide research fellow supporting EWG’s work on paraquat and other harmful pesticides. He has an academic background investigating the risks of herbicide drift to farmers, rural communities and ecosystems. He’s also worked directly with farmers across the mid-Atlantic sharing the latest research and techniques. Working with the farmers’ organization Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture and later as an independent consultant, Franklin has helped hundreds of family farmers address challenges related to soil health, pest management and climate resilience.

Franklin holds a Ph.D. in ecology from the Pennsylvania State University and lives in State College, Pa. (also known as “Happy Valley”), with his wife and children.
